Hellweg Maschinenbau specializes in the development and production of recycling machines for the plastics-processing industry. Hellweg Maschinenbau was founded in the year 1988 by Bernd Hellweg and is currently managed by the Hellweg family.

Besides a wide assortment of different cutting mills Hellweg Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG also develops solutions which comply with the individual requests of the user. The standardized assortment of machines contains movable mills for incline, slow-cutter and central mills in different sizes, as well as complete fully automatic recycling systems.

Film Cutters- Side Cutting Device

Hellweg cutting units are equipped with a guide roller and are designed for the use of standard blades. Unproblematic film flow is guaranteed by 5 air nozzles. The air is supplied via a 1/8`` connection. The cutting units are perfectly apt for cutting HD and PE film, and can be delivered without air nozzles and an air connection.

Form A – Single Blade Appliance (with air connection)

The Form A – Single Blade Appliance is a side cutting device used to slit a blown film tubing on both sides.

Peripheral Equipment:

Film / Foil Cutters- For Pre-Cutting of Foil Stripes

The Pre-Cut-System RC 180 is specially made for the pre cutting of thin foil / film. The system works with a two-knive rotor with an adjustable blade clearance of only 0, 05 mm. So the RC 180 is ideal for reducing the capacity of foils / film directly at the working place. Like all products of Hellweg Maschinenbau the RC 180 is made for 24 hours operation.

The RC 180 can feed-in foil stripes up to 50 mm width with a rotor revolution of 700 /min. and a motor output of 0, 55 kW.

Edge Cutting Systems

HELLWEG edge cutting systems are designed for long-term use. The edge strips which arise during trimming are directly crushed at first and are then fed into the cutting mill for further processing. Special guides and a hardened knife supporting plate ensure high durability. The edge cutting system can be in one of two versions- for one edge strip or two. The two-sided version comes with an adjusting device for determining the width of the edges.

Adjusting Device for Edge Cutting Systems

The adjusting device can be used to bring the edge strips of the various plate widths directly to the edge cutting system.

Drawing-In Device for Foil Strips with Adjustable Feeding Speed

Type: MG240/180- With Double Drawing-In Device and Extraction Equipment

This drawing-in device can draw in two edge strips at different speeds. This is made possible by the use of two frequency converters which can both be infinitely set.  The foil granulate is suctioned off directly.

New Feeding-in device for Series 150:

This feeding-in device is specially designed for the series 150. The feeding-in device can draw in one edge stripe with adjustable speeds. This is made possible by the use of a frequency converter which can be infinitely set. The foil granulate is suctioned off directly. This feeding-in device is made for the MD and also for the MDS series. You can feed in foils from 10 to120 m/s. This device is easy to handle and is also maintenance free.

You can feed in foils up to 80 mm width and up to 3 mm thickness with a grinding capacity of 35 kg/h.

Suction Devices for Dust-Free Granulates

Hellweg`s range of suction devices for dust-free granulates correspond to the highest quality requirements.

Material Recycling Systems


CD / DVD- Sprue Grinder / Inhouse

The production of pre recorded/recordable/rewritable optical media (CD, DVD & smart cards) generates tons of so-called ``sprues`` annually. The usual method to dispose of this production waste is collection, storage and finally dispatching to a raw material supplier. This Material Recycling System (MRS) recycles these sprues in a closed loop process: The MSR unit collects sprues directly from the moulding machine, grinds them and re-injects them with the ``virgin`` polycarbonate (PC).

The closed loop system prevents impurities from mixing with the recycled polycarbonate and therefore maintains the PC`s quality.

The robust and compact construction means an MRS unit can be used almost anywhere. The MRS is extremely simple to operate and also the knives have a long operating life. The MRS is equipped as standard with an outer bearing assembly. This prevents granulates and dust entering the bearing, avoiding expensive breakdowns and repair work to the production machines. The MRS is simple to install and compatible with most of the existing moulding machines and conveying equipments. The MRS complies with CE safety guidelines and is used by one of the largest replicators worldwide.

Series 80 - High Quality Inhouse Grinder

This extremely small and efficient grinder is used in various applications. For example it can directly be fitted in the bed of an injection-moulding machine. If for industrial use or in a lab, this series has been constructed for continuous operation.

Series 100 – Beside -The-Machine Granulators

The Hellweg 100 series beside-the-machine granulators represent an economical solution for use alongside injection moulding machines with a medium amount of sprues to be processed. The space needed is extremely low due to the compact design.

These granulators guarantee optimum material handling and fast material delivery due to the design of the grinding chamber. In addition, the use of co-rotating rotor discs prevents ground material from being trapped between the rotor and the wall of the enclosure. Thermal degradation of the ground material produced is consequently largely prevented.

Series 150 - Slow-Speed Granulators

A very compact mill for incline, which works immediately at the production plant. The applicability of this all-round mill for incline are nearly infinite. This series is distinguished by its particularly flat construction. By simple construction deviations it is possible, to fit this mill directly at an injection-moulding machine. This Series is suitable for all plastics including GFK-plastics.

Standard sieves are offered with a size of 5-8 mm. Sieves with holes of 2-30 mm, as well as special sieves are also available.

Series 200 - Slow-Speed Granulators

A very compact mill for incline, which works immediately at the production plant. The applicability of this all-round grinder for incline are nearly infinite. This series is distinguished by its particularly flat construction. By simple construction deviations it is possible to fit this mill directly at an injection-moulding machine.

This grinder is also ideal for PET. The cutting chamber will be fastened with an angle directed by Hellweg (to force through hollow bodies). Certainly the mill can also be used for plates, sprues and foils.

Standard sieves are offered with a size of 5-8 mm. Sieves with holes of 2-30 mm, as well as special sieves by Hellweg are also available. These sieves guarantee invariable size of particles and exclude long points of sprues.

Series 250 – The Cutting Mill with an Advanced Shredder and Toothed Roll

This series can be used, only if least possible parts of dust remain. We emphasize: ``least possible parts of dust``, because often there is talk about no dust in the granulated material.

The ``slotter`` is very easy to handle for example the divided cutting chamber, as a result of the two opening possibilities the mill is very easy to access and clean. This series guarantees best quality of granulated material as well. But attention must be paid to the slower grinding operation. Also attention must be paid to the fact that the slotter can`t cut soft plastics (PP, PE) and can only condition cut hollow bodies.

Series 180 – High Quality Granulators

The Series 180 all-round central mill is used to mould parts. Equipped with a feeding-rolls-device this series can be used for the grinding of foil edge stripes.

Standard sieves are offered with a size of 5-8 mm. Sieves with holes of 2-30 mm, as well as special sieves by Hellweg are also available. These sieves guarantee invariable size of particles and exclude long points of sprues.

Series 260 – High End Granulator for PET- Recycling

A very compact cutting mill. The series 260 is used as a central mill and is ideal for PET recycling. The cutting chamber will be fastened with an angle directed by Hellweg (to force through hollow bodies). Sprues, plates, form parts and above all hollow parts (bottles, cans up to 5 l) can be ground without any problems. Because of its compact construction (fan fixed in the back area of the support) less space is necessary and another advantage is the user-friendly low feeding height. The mills of the series 260 are basically double beared. The number consists of the working width and the rotor diameter. The series 260 is an absolute all round mill. The Series 260 is suitable for all plastics including GFK-plastics.

Standard sieves are offered with a size of 6-10 mm. Sieves with holes of 3-30 mm, as well as special sieves by Hellweg are also available. These sieves guarantee invariable size of particles and exclude long points of sprues.

Series 600- Mega-Series Central-Granulators for Highest Output 

The Hellweg 600 series granulators enable gentle and thorough granulation of thick-walled mouldings, sheets, sprue cakes, pipes and profiles, etc, on account of the extremely high stability of the entire machine housing and through the high moment of gyration of the massive rotor that is made from one solid piece of metal. Voluminous and large surface area plastic parts such as bumpers from the automotive industry or parts dismounted from old cars, plastic tanks, door interior claddings, etc can also be granulated.

A special rotor enables single stage granulation of even extremely massive lumps from production start-ups. The machines may be supplied optionally with soundproofed cabins and a noise absorbing feeding chute.

Series 300 – High Performance Granulators

For thick walled form parts, plates and sprue flats the all-round central mill of the series 300 is perfectly suited. Because of its extreme stability it operates very reliable and safe. The solid rotor (all Hellweg rotors are made of one material blank) with helical cut has a very high flywheel-effect. The standard external bearing (double) protects the bearings optimal from dust. The changing of the sieve, the cleaning because of changing of colour or material, and the adjusting of the knifes is very easy and quick, as a result of the user-friendly construction.
