Nefab supplies many types of expendable outer packaging, from corrugated single wall boxes to pallets made out of plastic or plywood. Nefab engineers work closely with the customer to develop a suitable packaging solution. The design process incorporates product analysis, which enables the correct selection of materials. Nefab has the facility to test the design to ensure the packaging will protect its contents throughout its journey to the customer.
Corrugated Packaging
Nefab provides a variety of corrugated solutions including die-cut and slottted boxes as single, double or triple wall packaging. Every logistics flow has its specific characteristics and Nefab helps to find the most suitable packaging solution for each one. Nefab`s aim is to offer a packaging that fulfils customer requirements whilst reducing total cost.
Double and Triple Wall Corrugated
Double wall boxes are made out of two facings, two corrugated mediums and an inner liner inbetween to give five papers in total. The most common type is BC, which consists of one B-flute and one C-flute. These types of corrugated cardboard are used for heavy applications, particularly in packaging for export shipments. The density of double wall corrugated varies between 650 and 1800 gr/m2.
Slotted Boxes
The slotted boxes can often be found as double folded sheets of corrugated board, which fold simply into a four-sided box. The top flaps meet in the centre and can be taped, glued or stapled to close. As an alternative, the flaps can meet the opposite side of the long panels, resulting in a stronger box that can withstand heavy objects or rough handling. Nefab can also provide flexo printed packaging solutions to create a high quality image.
Die-Cut Boxes
Die cut boxes can be made self-locking, which means that there is no requirement for glue, tape, staples or any other closing method. In the same way as for slotted boxes, Nefab can provide flexo printed packaging solutions to create a high quality image.
Consumer Packaging
Based upon an analysis of marketing, handling and logistics demands, Nefab will design and qualify a packaging solution meeting customer requirements for outer and inner packaging.
Edgeboards
Edgeboard consists of several laminated layers of strong paperboard. High quality reusable carton board is glued together under high pressure to produce a highly, stable, profile element. For improved quality, lamination through heat sealing is applied. This means that the packaging solution can withstand major moisture fluctuations and dampness.
NEFAB ExPak A
NEFAB ExPak A is a collapsible packaging system that consists of a frame, a lid, and a base, which are all held together with steel profiles acting as hinges. The box takes minimal storage space and is very easy to assemble since it is delivered flat and in just one piece.
NEFAB ExPak P
NEFAB ExPak P is a collapsible plywood packaging solution with galvanised steel profiles. The box consists of three separate pieces, a lid, a foldable frame and the base. NEFAB ExPak P is appropriate for export shipment during tough conditions and can be made in a volume interval of 100-1,500 litres.
NEFAB ExPak S
NEFAB ExPak S is a collapsible plywood packaging solution with galvanised steel profiles. The box consists of six separate pieces, a lid, two long sides, two short sides and the base. This design allows full access from all four sides for loading and unloading, thus offering maximum flexibility in the packing process.
Alternative Locking Devices and Seals
The Standard tongue is a strong solution with no loose parts. It works very well with all packaging solutions but assembly time for an extremely large NEFAB ExPak S could be slightly longer.
The Spring Latch is mainly designed for use on smaller boxes or for lids. It is a silent and easy operation to assemble or remove the locking device, which could also be reused. The Spring Latch performs well in strength tests.
The Plastic Clip can be used several times and is easy to assemble and remove. It is a silent and easy operation, reducing environmental impact in the production or assembly area.
Plastic or metal seals can be used to ensure that the packaging is safely closed during the transportation. Different types and sizes can be provided depending on the application.
Handles
Handles can be added to Nefab`s expendable plywood boxes to simplify handling. Cotton or nylon bands are normally used although a wide range of solutions is available for customisation. These handles are strong and can withstand weights of more than 100kg each. The most commonly used handle type is the eight-rivet. As an alternative, a small piece of metal can be used to keep the handle in place. This solution is widely used for MoD (defence) appplications.
Presswood, Corrugated and Wooden Pallets
Presswood pallets are moulded in one solid piece from dried wood fibres. The manufacturing process takes place under high temperature and pressure which burns out all infestation and eliminates the need for costly fumigation or heat treatment prior to export.
Plywood Pallets
The plywood pallet is an excellent load carrier for heavy goods that need a strong and durable packaging solution. Nefab`s lightweight plywood pallet can be reused several times but could also be sold as an integrated part of the box.
Plastic Pallets
Nefab offers plastic pallet as a stable and secure packaging solution for all kinds of applications. Even though it is an expendable pallet, it can be reused several times without any special maintenance.
Dangerous Goods Packaging Systems
Nefab is one of the world`s leading suppliers of dangerous goods (DG) packaging systems. Today, some of the world`s largest companies use Nefab`s DG expertise. Nefab supplies a number of designs in a wide range of materials with the focus on providing the most suitable solution for each individual project.
