The M3 industrial operator station provides vital information to the operator and process technician. The high tech display can be positioned for clear viewing of the bright LCD color touch monitor from the winder or creel end of the machine. Burn and clear timers are displayed in large numbers whenever the machine stops so that the operator can respond with real time information.

Optimized reliability and serviceability have been primary design criteria of our new station design which includes an extreme duty hard drive, an air conditioned NEMA 12 enclosure, and the separation of the touch monitor from other key components. The space efficient mounting pole and arm system support the industry standard VESA-Mount touch monitor. Key features include:

Heatset Controller

InteCraft is pleased to introduce the M3 controller, our 3rd generation controller with advanced control strategies proven on 100+ steam tunnels over the past 10 years. The  best has been made better through our quest for ongoing improvement in reliability, serviceability and performance.

Each heatset process controller is dedicated to a single steam tunnel and mates with our M3 operator station. An entire department of machines can be linked for reporting and monitoring with a single InteCraft host or supervisory desktop station. Key features include:

  • extremely rugged hardware platform
  • processor performs control versus operator station
  • hot swappable modules enhance serviceability
  • redundant processor option simplifies maintenance
  • control algorithm developed specifically for heatset
  • commercially available off the shelf components

Key features of the control processor(s) include:

  • network interface: redundant Ethernet ports (two ports) at 10/100Mbps
  • communication protocol: industry standard modbus TCP

Key features of the supervisory station include:

A typical installation of the M3 system consists of a single supervisory station and multiple control systems. The supervisory system serves as a focal point for management and quality control functions as well as providing a central location for the storage of recipes, data logging, and alarm logging. Each control system operates independently to regulate and monitor the heatset process. Each M3 control system is dedicated to a single machine and operates independently from the supervisory system. The system consists of an operator station, a control enclosure, valves and sensors. The operator station includes of a color flat-panel touch-screen on an ergonomic swing-arm and mounting post. The separate Control Enclosure houses the M3 controller, power supplies and other electronics.

In general this station is located in the department manager`s office or the production supervisor`s office. Functions provided include the following:

  • recipe management – authorized persons are provided a tool to create, modify, delete recipes
  • central recipe storage – a single standardized copy of each recipe is used by all control systems
  • data logging – months worth of data are logged to hard drive and backed up on CD or other media
  • alarm logging – alarm logs are stored on hard drive and backed up on CD or other media
  • trend charts – historical data from single or multiple machines are easily displayed on trend charts
  • department overview – graphical overview of all machines: status, efficiencies, run/stop timers
  • machine view – graphical detail view of each machine: alarms, process readings, timers
  • reports – efficiencies, down-times, alarm history by machine, custom reports, automatic printing– all displays can be printed for a hard copy of settings, process conditions, and reports
  • remote access – this feature also allows Intecraft to provide technical assistance and upgrades via telephone, allowing reduced support cost and response time in most cases. key plant personnel can also be allowed access via network or modem if desired
